Assistance of KSRelief distributed among 1000 families
JALALABAD: The first consignment of assistance of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) for the recent earthquake-hit people reached Dara Noor district of Nangarhar province on Tuesday (September 16). The assistance was distributed among 1000 families in the first phase.
The officials of KSRelief and Afghan Red Crescent Society arrived along with the first consignment of the assistance in Dara Noor district of Nangarhar today. They distributed edibles among 1000 earthquake-hit families in the district.
These families were the residents of Shokyalai, Sutan and Machkandol areas which were heavily affected by the recent earthquake.
The assistance included wheat, rice, beans, sugar and ghee. The officials of KSRelief and Afghan Red Crescent Society distributed the assistance among the earthquake-hit people.
Head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society for Nangarhar, Maulvi Fazlur Rahman Fayaz attended the ceremony and lauded the KSRelief for the assistance.
According to the Afghan Red Crescent Society, the assistance weighed 7.5 tons. Each family was given edibles weighing 7.5 kilograms.
It is pertinent to mention here that a strong earthquake jolted Kunar and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan in August. Hundreds of houses were damaged in Nangarhar province. The earthquake caused casualties.
The process of assistance is still underway. Temporary camps, health centers assistance zone and psychological treatment teams have been deployed in the area. About 6000 people suffered casualties in the earthquake.
