KABUL (AIP): The ministry of martyrs and disabled has registered 127500 widows and orphans over the past one year.
Deputy Minister for Martyrs and Disabled Sheikh Abdul Hakim Haqqani while presenting report of one year performance at a press conference here on Sunday said 127500 destitute widows and orphans have been registered in Kabul and other provinces of the country through a transparent process over the past one year so that they could be provided assistance.
Similarly, he said, 117459 disabled people were registered in Kabul and other provinces and the registration process has been completed while the registration of heirs of martyrs continues.
During the same period, Haqqani said, the heirs of martyrs and disabled people have been given right of receiving stipends for six months following signing agreements different private banks.
Resolving problems of the orphans, widows and disabled is in the priority list of the government and efforts are being made to provide better conditions to them, he said, adding the registration of disabled, widows and orphans started with Islamic Emirate coming into power and underserving people were deleted from the list.
He said the issuance of electronic identity cards to orphans, disabled and widows has also been started  in order to provide transparent and speedy services to them.
Providing assistance and jobs to disabled people and sending hundreds of relatives of the martyred people to Saudi Arabia for haj are among the achievements of the last one year of the ministry. 
Meanwhile, a large number of disabled, orphans and widows of martyrs complain that they are not given their right timely. The decades of wars in Afghanistan left hundreds of thousands of people orphan, disabled and widowed and a majority of them need government assistance. Ends
